"My Barbies were my friends." Some of the best entertainers are bullied featuring Gabby B
Nothing like some good ol’ bullying to instill deep belief in yourself. Gabby B with the green hair is a living example of that. She’s cute, she’s fun, she’s an icon, and she just sang the national anthem not for one major Chicago sports team, but two!

P.S. peep our boy Chance the Rapper performing some of his new songs from his new album dropping on Aug. 15 during a Chicago Fire game the same weekend Gabby B performed for the White Sox.
Native to Brazil, raised in France, and then being compelled to move to the U.S. so she could ride in a big yellow school bus, Gabby B has moved a lot. She’s used to not staying in one spot for too long, but that’s why she’s a multilingual music artist who sings in Portuguese, Spanish, French, and English.

Always on the Move
“I lived in four different countries. I've been to seven different countries. We've moved about four or five times or more,” Gabby B told Windy6ix.
2
An Entertaining Family
Born to a samba dancer mother and a Jiu Jitsu practicing father, Gabby is used to being half naked most of the time — it’s the same reason why her fancy, blingy bras are specially sewn by her mom.
3
Body Positive Household
“I grew up, obviously, in a Brazilian culture household. So, like, it's always been very normal to me. Like, in France, like, you go to the beach and girls are topless. Then when I got to America, I noticed how conservative people are even with bikinis,” Gabby said to me.
The vibes match her latest single releases “Budinha” and “Tu Boca” as well as this year’s EP XOXO.
These outfits were inspired by Gabby’s stint as a belly dancer, where she learned how to keep her cool shaking hips with a snake wrapped around her and ended up gaining a lot of attention in India. She studied the dance style more to finish one of her singles “Belly Dancer.”

Gabby adores her growing career in entertainment, but she knows there’s some downsides like shitty mental health and manipulation, but she seems to have a solid balance on how to guide her audience to know the real her.
“You know you just have to shine through your personality. When you go live just be yourself and they'll like you,” Gabby said, who instantly grew from 20K followers to now almost 500K, which naturally came with some haters.
“I was expecting that because I grew up in the entertainment industry. I never stayed at home with a babysitter. So I'm used to, oh, if the music stops, keep going. Oh, if this happens, do this. Like, I knew those things already. Oh, maybe your nipple is going to pop out, things like that,” she explained.
Gabby has dealt with many haters in the past, from getting spit on and pushed in a pool in France to basically being Hannah from 13 Reasons Why after moving to Massachusetts.
HOW BULLYING HAS SHAPED GABBY
“It was just like, a lot of laughing and things that you see in the movies…I wanted to be friends with everybody. I wanted to know about everybody and where they came from and things like that, but that made them hate me more,” she said.
From typical racial slurs like “you look Mexican” and “you look dirty” to fake friends spreading rumors that the music artist slept with random dudes on the football team, Gabby is used to people parading themselves as supporters suddenly turn their backs on her.
However, Gabby kept faith by turning to her Barbies.
“They saved my life. I've always been lonely as an only child so I've only been surrounded by my parents or adults. My Barbies were my friends.”
Like yours truly, bullying also inspired the singer to publish a picture book about getting bullied as an immigrant attending grade school in America.

When Gabby first started posting content, she gained lots of attention from young kids and tweens.
“I would talk to them on live, and they would ask me a lot of times for advice and stuff, and, oh, that they were going through things. Because kids go through a lot of things. School is not easy for anybody, especially as an exchange student that came to America. I was just like, you, right? So you could do the same thing that I'm doing. It gives people hope, it gives people faith, and it makes them keep going.”
Despite not having forgotten those painful memories, Gabby believes her success is the best revenge. She’s in her manifestation era just being herself.
“I like to just be myself. I’m a big child and that’s what keeps me grounded in myself.”
